This game was unique and original when it first came out too. The graphics are quite nice (the animation especially) and well textured, and the music is unforgettable - in a good way! The sound effects are great too. I remember my dad buying an extra mouse for our Amiga just so we could play 2-player! It was worth it. It takes a lot of patience to get through this game, but as long as you keep track of your level passwords then that makes things a lot more manageable. This game can be very frustrating but is a great challenge and really puts your brainpower to the test. The difficulty ranges between levels, but this is nicely done as it starts off incredibly easy while the later levels are very difficult! I really like the whole Lemmings series, although I still think that this game probably has the best level designs. If you had the privilege of playing Lemmings first time around, now is your chance to experience this gem again! If you have never played Lemmings you really must. Soon the odd accident begins occurring - "sorry, I didn't mean to dig a hole in your bridge.".īefore long pleasantries are forgotten and outright war begins taking over with the survival rate plummeting as you and your opponent become more preoccupied with revenge and sabotage of each others Lemmings, than with the rescue of your own! The cries of dozens of poor little souls ring out as the casualty rate on both sides soars as bucket loads of hapless Lemmings get blown up, trapped or plunge to their doom. To begin with friendly cooperation reigns.
As the levels progress the paths you must guide your lemmings along becomes more and more intertwined with that of your opponent.
The two player split screen mode meanwhile is one of the best multiplayer experiences I have ever played on any platform. Yet no matter how hard, there is always a logical solution and it is immensely satisfying when you crack a level that has been thwarting you for ages. The one player levels stretch your brain in a good way and soon become fiendishly taxing. Truly inspirational - this game was so ahead of its time when released and is still a delight to play.
